Replanting
This painting began outside, but when the composition was not working I took it into the studio and painted out some of the trees and added roots below ground. They seemed like ghost trees.
They became actual tree remains after Calfire decided to burn brush on the neighboring ridge by dropping flaming gel from a helicopter. The fire escaped and their bulldozers cut through fences and this grove of trees.
